Student Experience


Predoctoral Practicums

Connections: Health*Wellness*Advocacy offers a Predoctoral Practicum with a focus in Clinical Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychology. We operate using the team approach model within a community mental health agency. The program combines broad clinical experience, extensive supervision and didactic training to prepare students for professional practice in psychology. The practicum emphasizes core areas of clinical practice in:
  • Outpatient psychotherapy
  • Psychological assessment/testing
  • Group Therapy
  • Presentations
  • Coordinated team approach to treatment
Our professional practicum programs have included graduate psychology students from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland State University, University of Akron, Union Institute and others.

2014-2015 Practicum Program

Four practicum appointments are available for the 2014-2015 training year, which starts mid-August, 2014. Appointments are for up to 24 hours a week within a 10-month period.

Completed applications must be received by April 15, 2014.

Counseling Internships

Connections: Health*Wellness*Advocacy offers counseling internships with a focus in Clinical Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychology. We operate using the team approach model within a community mental health agency. The program combines broad clinical experience, extensive supervision and didactic training to prepare students for professional practice in counseling. Internships emphasize core areas of clinical practice in:
  • Outpatient psychotherapy
  • Group therapy
  • Coordinated team approach to treatment
  • Education in art psychotherapy and art psychotherapy assessments
Our professional internship programs have included graduate counseling students from Ursuline College, John Carroll, University of Akron, and others.

2014-2015 Internship Program

Two internships are available for the 2014-2015 training year, which starts mid-August, 2014. Internship placement is typically up to 24 hours a week within a 5-month period.

Externships

Connections: Health*Wellness*Advocacy offers externships for students in the following programs:
 
  • Medical Assistant
  • Medical Billing and Coding
  • Medical Secretary
  • Pharmacy Technician
 
Our externship programs have included students from Bryant and Stratton College, Cleveland Institute of Dental-Medical Assistants, Inc., Remington College, Sanford-Brown College, and others.
